Strogonoff do Mith
Chicken Stroganoff (1 kg of Chicken)
Serves:
6–8 people
Ingredients:
- Chicken breast: 1 kg, cut into strips
- Butter: 2 tablespoons (about 30 g)
- Onion: 1 large, finely chopped
- Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
- Mushrooms (champignon): 250 g, sliced (fresh or canned)
- Ketchup: 4 tablespoons
- Mustard: 2 tablespoons (Dijon or regular)
- Heavy cream / cooking cream: 500 ml
- Sour cream (optional, for extra creaminess): 150–200 ml
- Salt: to taste
- Black pepper: to taste
- Worcestershire sauce (optional): 1 tablespoon
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Prepare the chicken
Cut the chicken breast into uniform strips. Season lightly with salt and pepper. - Sauté onion and garlic
In a large pan, melt the butter over medium heat.
Add the onion and cook until soft and translucent.
Add the garlic and sauté for about 1 minute. - Cook the chicken
Increase heat to medium-high.
Add the chicken strips and cook until lightly browned and cooked through.
Avoid overcrowding the pan. - Add mushrooms and sauces
Add the mushrooms and cook for 2–3 minutes.
Stir in the ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce (if using). - Add cream
Lower the heat and pour in the heavy cream.
Stir well and let it simmer gently for 5–7 minutes (do not boil). - Finish and season
Turn off the heat and stir in the sour cream if using.
Adjust salt and black pepper to taste. - Serve
Serve hot with white rice and batata palha (crispy potato sticks).
